Train Where Real Judo Begins

Short-term intensive programs with elite Japanese school teams

Why WPJ?

Master Japanese Judo from Its Roots

Train where real judo begins — inside Japanese junior and high school teams.

Have you ever come to Japan only to find yourself doing endless sparring? No grip work. No technique drills. Just randori.

In Japan, the real judo foundation is built during junior high and high school. By the time athletes reach university, it's all about competition. That’s why WPJ partners directly with school teams — so you can train where judo actually begins.

Many international judoka arrive in Japan expecting in-depth instruction, but find themselves limited to sparring sessions. Core techniques, posture, grip strategy—these are often overlooked.

In reality, Japanese judoka gain these essential skills during their junior and senior high school years. Once they move to university or corporate teams, the focus shifts to refinement and competition, not foundational training.

That’s why WPJ offers you access to the developmental phase—where real judo is born.

Message

The reason I started practicing judo was that both of my parents were judo athletes, and their influence led me to begin judo at the age of three. During high school and university, I achieved several national-level awards. However, I was unable to achieve the results I hoped for in individual competitions. When I thought, “I’m done with judo,” an opportunity arose during a university practicum to teach judo overseas. There, instructors encouraged me to pursue coaching. This inspired me to make the decision to become a judo instructor.

In April 2024, I began working as a coach at Shutoku Junior & Senior High School in Tokyo. Later, in November 2024, I founded WPJ to share Japanese judo globally, increase demand for the declining Japanese judo culture, and promote judo as a way of life—not just a sport.
